Official Rules of Gunfighting

Safety Equipment

Full face protection meeting Z87+ ANSI standards will be provided by Organizers, including throat protection.

Competitors will also be required to wear groin protection (provided by the Organizers).

Safe Zone

Before each match, competitors will conduct a safety check. All competitors will be patted-down to ensure no other weapons enter the dueling area.

  • · Both competitors will enter the dueling cage. Once they enter, they cannot leave the area without a full safety protocol being repeated.
  • · The revolves will be examined by both competitors to ensure the weapons are empty.
  • · Each competitor will physically and visually examine the ammunition to ensure it is non-lethal and the preclusion system is in place.
  • · The gunfight marshal will also examine the weapons and ammunition for triple verification.
  • · Once triple verification of the weapons being empty is complete, competitors will load 6 rounds of non-lethal ammunition into each revolver.
  • · Both competitors will place their weapons in their holsters. There will be absolutely no removing of the weapons prior to the match starting.

All players will exercise safe handling of their dueling equipment. Unsafe handling of weapons, especially aiming it in an unsafe direction, will result in immediate disqualification.

Basic Handling

  •   Always treat your weapon as if it were loaded.
  • · Never place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire.
  • · Control your muzzle direction at all times.
  • · Accidental discharges and deliberate dry firing will not be tolerated.

Scoring

  •    1-point will be awarded for a shot placed in the scoring area (center mass).
  • · 2-points will be awarded for a shot placed in the head of your opponent.
  • · A match victory will be awarded for a round that strikes the heart (blood pack) of your opponent.
  • · Only one shot may be fired per round.

Penalties

  • Foot fault: All competitors must stay within the dueling ring.  A foot fault occurs when a competitor steps outside the ring after the buzzer starts the match.  A foot fault deducts one point from the offending player's score.
  • Double-firing: If a competitor fires more than one round during a match, they will automatically lose that match.
  • Dodging; A competitor commits "dodging" when they turn  their body away in a manner that obscures their scoring zone.

Final Score

The total points at the end of all 6 rounds will determine the winner.  Any competitor who strikes the heart of the opponent automatically wins regardless of the total score.  Times will be tallied during the matches but do not affect the score.
